Who knew getting the kids to school would be such an effort (every parent, ever). We had a shock last September when our eldest started school nursery, rushing out last minute to buy uniform and then managing to miss almost every no-school uniform/random dress-up day. And so many lunches were thrown together in a rush to get out the door on time 🙈.
This school year I’m aiming to be more organised, well I have good intentions and lists, lots of lists 👀
To get:
- T-shirts
- Skirts
- Dresses
- Trousers
- Cardigans
- Jumpers
- Shorts
- Socks
- Tights
- Shoes
- Trainers
- Waterproof coat
- Waterproof trousers
- Name labels
- Water bottle
- Lunch box
- Lunch bag
- Backpack
- Folder (for the many pictures that are thrust at me at pickup)
- Bobbles & hair clips
- Kid-friendly hand sanitiser
To do:
- Iron in name labels
- Get a haircut
- Try on existing uniform
- Donate uniform that no longer fits
- Buy uniform and other supplies
- Create an ‘out-the-door’ station for bags, shoes, coats, etc
- Get back into a morning routine
- Add key dates to the family calendar
- Double-check drop-off and pick-up times
- Gather lunch ideas
- Run through ‘School ready’ activities
Weekly to do:
- Check school app and update calendar with any future events
- Batch prep & freeze lunch items
- Pack P.E. Kit
- Do homework/school projects
- Wash & Iron uniform x 5
- Clean school shoes (will probably get Lottie to do this)
Reception class prep:
- Practise handwriting
- Basic maths activities (counting, shapes, adding, subtracting, weight)
- Phonics games (we mainly use a Welsh language app Tric a Chlic)
- Early reading practise (we’ve been reading the Dysgu gyda Sam series)
